Autumn in Christchurch
Christchurch's hinterland is the province of Canterbury. It offers a myriad of things to see and do, and during spring most of these are available all at once - visit the beaches, play golf, go trout fishing, boating on a lake or take a hot air balloon ride. Bike or hike your way through the province, go whale watching, dolphin swimming or take in the diversity of the central city with a ride on the cable car.
So what else is on the menu? There's the thrill of hot air ballooning or bungy jumping, spring skiing, jet-boating, whale watching, rafting and the excitement of the casino to the elevated outlook from the Christchurch Gondola. A cruise on the Canterbury Cat through Akaroa or Lyttelton Harbour will introduce visitors to the rare Hector's Dolphin and the Little Blue Penguin.
